Ronald Murrell is a 1977 graduate of West Carteret High School. He
received his BA degree in Elementary Education from Shaw University,
Raleigh, NC home of the mighty “Bears”. He started his public-school
career as a teachers assistant at West Carteret High School with the BED
class. He then worked with Neuse Mental Health as a case manager for the
Thomas S. Class action lawsuit population, then later moved into the role
as supervisor.
Ronald accepted a position with Craven County school system working at
Havelock Middle School as the reading specialist for the Exceptional
Children’s program. While at Havelock Middle School he wore many hats,
Dean of Students, Testing Coordinator, ISS Coordinator and finally ending
with teaching 6 th grade English/Language Arts. June, 2019 Ronald retired
from teaching public school.
Although he has retired from teaching, he continues to have a connection
with students by driving a school bus for Craven County School System.
He is married to the former Mary Vann of Beaufort. They have three sons,
Andre, Christopher and Ashton and seven grandchildren. He is a member
of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, where he holds the position of
Chairman of the Deacon’s Ministry, church treasurer, and assist the
Minister of Music when needed.
